ART Shows              (Click on photo to see large version.)           Back

April 4th 2008

Tony and I attended the opening of the Oklahoma Watercolor Association Member Show . It was a beautiful spring evening to be out walking along The Paseo Arts District. The art show was at The Paseo Art Space. I entered two watercolor paintings, "Green Stripes" and "The Apple of His Mother's Eye".  Guest arrived at 6:00pm to enjoy the food, wine and fun. I am a member of the OWA and hold the office of VP Membership.

The judge was Annie Morgan, an accomplished mixed media artist from Michigan. Bert Seaborn received best of show.

It is truly a joy to see the talent of our Oklahoma artists and to socialize with my fellow members of the association. In the seventh photo I am standing with our President Lynden Wilcoxin.

We followed a fun time at the Paseo show with another event in the First National Center building in downtown Oklahoma City. It was the "Sip of Oklahoma" wine tasting and fundraiser for The Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park theater group. I donated a watercolor painting titled "Springtime Contemplation" for a silent auction at the event. It was such a nice chance to see the beautiful lobby of the building again. It has been closed to the public for years. The architecture, murals and ornate Art Nouveau details just thrill me as an artist.

Before the event  Mary Blankenship Pointer and I gazed up at the beautiful outside decoration of the First National  building. Mary is VP, Professional and Executive Banking for UMB Bank. She invited the artists that had donated their art to exhibit those pieces two weeks before event in the UMB lobby directly north of the First National Building. Mary is also a board member of OK Shakespeare in the Park.

Several Oklahoma vintners were offering a "sip" of their yummo wines. My favorite was a mildly dry chardonnay from a winery in Drumright, OK labeled "Oklahoma Sunset". Roccoco restaurant provided the hors d'oeuvres.

The final photo is of members from the OWA that also donated their art to the event, left to right, Ashley, Regina, Doris, and me.

To my delight my painting was purchased!
